If you've wanted a Solus, this is the one to buy, and yes, it's pricey, because we paid our tech for all the time plus new parts it takes to make these better than the rest.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn addition to necessary repairs, we did the usual stuff we do to ARPs to this particular unit: \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eCleaned unit inside and out\u003cbr\u003eReplaced jack nuts\u003cbr\u003eCleaned all jacks\u003cbr\u003eCleaned and lubed all faders and switches\u003cbr\u003eRebuilt power supply \u003cbr\u003eReplaced all tantalum capacitors\u003cbr\u003eReplaced all electrolytic capacitors\u003cbr\u003eRecalibrated \u003cbr\u003eRebuilt keyboard:\u003cbr\u003eCleaned bus bars\u003cbr\u003eCleaned j-wires\u003cbr\u003eReplaced bushings\u003cbr\u003eAligned keys\u003cbr\u003eMultiple systematic tests passed with flying colors\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis Solus should make anyone looking for a really nice fully functional example very happy.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eWe also spotted a design flaw in this model that we confirmed was present in another technician's refurbished Solus as well (thanks, Tony!), so it's not a malfunction, but we wanted to mention it here so it's documented on the web and hopefully other people won't think their Solus is broken if they notice this - it only occurs under certain settings, so most people probably won't... when the VCO2 FM fader is all the way up and the modulation source is set to ADSR, the envelope will also pitch modulate VCO1. It happens less towards the bottom of the keyboard and doesn't always happen every time a key is played. VCO1 modulation stops once the fader is positioned slightly lower than at maximum. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e235314x\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis 2 oscillator vintage anaog synthesizer was ARP's last mono synth - they reportedly produced only a few hundred of them before going out of business (we heard up to 700, but this number may be inaccurate). Built into a portable case and midway between the Axxe and Odyssey in its features, the Solus has that classic ARP sound everybody loves.
