We call this the poor person's Prophet VS. It's an excellent little cost effective vector synth, with the ability to do vector sequencing effecting either the volume of each of the four components of your sound or detuning. The individual "oscillators" are either sampled waveforms or FM sounds. It's great for evolving timbres. Don't underestimate the power of this piece - Moby and the Pet Shop Boys were both big users of this small module. We've got one in our studio too.

And yes, the display backlight works fine. :)
