Oberheim OB-8 for sale. This one's an early version with the J-wire keyboard more commonly found in earlier keyboards like the OB-XA.
This particular unit has sold, but we usually have at least one OB-8 in stock, so please use the search feature to search our site for OB-8 to check for others (there's a separate page for ones with MIDI and ones without MIDI with page 2 graphics). If you need help, please let us know - after using the search feature.
This unit was fully disassembled, cleaned inside and out, meticulously overhauled in an effort to future-proof and fully tested and is in perfect working order, unlike most. This process took over 35 hours of highly skilled tech time, and this is reflected in the higher than usual price because it's been painstakingly rebuilt and should be a far better investment than others you may find.
We've included a photo of all the parts we removed and replaced so our customers can see the amount of work performed on this unit to make it better than others. This of course does not factor in all the time cleaning, calibrating, testing, etc. These replaced parts have been discarded and will not be included in this sale.
We may be able to add a MIDI retrofit for an additional fee - contact us and we'll let you know.

The OB8 was one of the most popular polysynths of the 80's and has been used by many artists. It's also an excellent source of sounds for modern music (techno, house, pop, whatever) and is a popular vintage synth. It's an extremely versatile synth, capable of producing a huge variety of sounds - from lush strings to fat, juicy basses, to smooth leads, stabs, brass, analog effects, etc. If we had to list our favorite analog polyphonic synths, this one would definitely be on top!
Here are some basic features:
-8 note polyphonic
-split and layer capability for 2 analog sounds at once
-2 VCOs per voice, includes oscillator sync
-modulation routing section
-2 pole / 4 pole filter select
