Roland Jupiter-8 for sale. Meticulously serviced over way too many hours. As a result, this instrument works like new and sounds incredible! This one's pre-MIDI, but we can install an Encore Electronics MIDI retrofit at an additional cost. This is an earlier 12 bit unit. Tuning was improved in later 14 bit units. If you have a critical ear like we do and you'd like this unit converted to a 14 bit one for an additional fee, please contact us to discuss.

In addition to any repairs, here's what we did to this JP8:
-Replaced power supply capacitors for longevity
-Cleaned key contacts
-Replaced dust covers - the originals harden over time and the faders scrape against them. We bought some reproductions from a vendor that were no good as they were hardened where they were cut, so we ended up having to cut our own by hand
-Cleaned and lubed all slide pots, rotary pots and switches
-Replaced all tact switches so they activate with a light touch (the originals often dont anymore)
-Cleaned LFO modulation trigger switch
-Recalibrated VCOs VCFs VCAs DAC
-Multiple systematic tests and burn in test

This is one of our favorite synths of all time - it sounds and looks terrific. The JP-8 is good for just about every type of sound you'd expect to get out of an analog polysynth - from warm strings to basses, to cheesy 80s synthbrass, crazy sound effects and more, if the JP8 can't do it, the others probably can't either. And of course then there's the rainbow of colors. In our opinion, this JP-8 is a solid instrument- in sound and in build. It's got a more precise, controllable sound than something like a Memorymoog, and a better sound and feel than the Prophet 5, to us at least. You won't find any wood on this piece - Roland meant business and made this thing heavy duty metal. Our only complaint about it is it's quite heavy so carrying it for any distance can be a challenge - this is not the weakling's gigging instrument, that's for sure. So back to the sound.... Don't take our word that this is the synth to get - just think about who used it throughout its history. Not only did our favorite synth musicians from the 80s use one or more JP8s, they're still in use today. Reportedly used by 808 State, Alphaville, Yello, Michael Boddicker, Vince Clarke, OMD, Miles Davis, Depeche Mode, Thomas Dolby, Jan Hammer, Human League, Jean Michel Jarre, Howard Jones, Level 42, Giorgio Moroder, Patrick Leonard (Madonna), Simple Minds, Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran, Tears for Fears, Michael Jackson, Wang Chung and many more.
